  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is seeking mentors during National Mentoring Month — volunteers must be 18 or older, commit 2 to 4 hours a month, and pass background checks. The group aims to match a waiting list of 700 children across King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties.  FOX 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Rain will return to the Puget Sound area today and extend into Thursday, breaking a 15-day dry spell that threatened the local snowpack. Mountain areas near Snoqualmie Pass are forecast to receive 1 to 8 inches of new snow by week’s end while lower regions get light rain.  KOMO
  • Mount Rainier National Park will operate without a timed entry permit after park officials cancelled the pilot program started in 2024 and scaled back in 2025 - officials said they will keep monitoring parking and congestion.  FOX 13

  • Rick Rizzs will retire after the 2026 season after a 51-season career calling Mariners games — his work also includes launching community programs like Toys for Kids. The team has unveiled its new broadcasting lineup for his final year.  KOMO
