CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 2025 Vesey/Munson Art Show will take place from May 15 to 21 at the Karshner Museum in Puyallup — junior high and high school artwork will be on display and an artist reception will be held on May 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. The show honors art teachers Dan Vesey and Deb Munson for their role in inspiring creativity in students, teachers and community members. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Earlier this month, students from Puyallup High School and Rogers High School traveled to Spokane for the 2025 Washington HOSA State Leadership Conference where they competed against over 2,500 students in medical skill assessments. Top performers earned placements and invitations to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville in June—showing their strong skills and dedication—. Puyallup School District
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ralph Munro, Washington’s longest-serving secretary of state—who served five terms since his 1980 election—died Thursday morning at age 81. He worked hard to help people get to polling places, make voting easier, and learn about government. KOMO
- ➤ Washington drivers will need to remove studded tires from their cars by March 31 to avoid a $137 fine—WSDOT said—and automotive centers are expected to be busy the weekend before the deadline. KOMO
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ PSD student-athletes finished the winter semester with high marks in sports and academics. Schools such as Emerald Ridge and Puyallup High earned state and district awards in basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and swimming — several teams even recording undefeated seasons.
