- ➤ Former Sumner High School basketball coach Jake Jackson was sentenced Thursday, April 17th to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing students between 2016 and 2022—he faced 19 counts including child molestation and rape of a child. FOX 13
- ➤ Pierce County Sheriff's deputies are asking for help with a nearly 30-year-old murder case involving Laurie Krage—whose remains were found off Gale Creek Road near Wilkeson Elementary School on October 13 and later identified by genetic genealogy—as detectives contact her living relatives to learn why she was never reported missing and to gather any tips about her and her husband from 1995 to 1997. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington state has announced fee-free days for 2025 so residents and visitors can use public lands without an entry fee; scheduled dates include January 1, January 9, January 20, March 9, March 19, April 19, April 22, June 7-8, June 14, June 19, July 16, August 4, August 9, September 27, October 10, and November 11. The days are managed by agencies such as the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service to support park services and upkeep. KOMO
