CRIME NEWS

  • Pierce County deputies responded on Sunday, April 20th at around 5:30 a.m. to a call reporting a suicide on Fox Island—evidence from a detailed investigation showed the incident was a homicide—resulting in a 29-year-old man's arrest on second-degree murder charges.  KOMO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today begins Public School Volunteer Week, which runs until April 25 and honors more than 8,700 volunteers who support local schools with classroom help, event organization, mentoring, and other service projects — the district also recognizes students completing 150 volunteer hours with special awards.  Puyallup School District

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • With the May 7 deadline for Real ID enforcement looming, travelers will face long waits at licensing offices as they scramble to secure the necessary identification for domestic flights – TSA reports that 20% of U.S. travelers still lack required IDs. Officials advise those traveling soon to book appointments or walk in if they cannot get one in time.  KOMO
