CRIME NEWS

  • Pierce County deputies investigated a fatal shooting in Spanaway on April 24 after residents reported hearing 20 to 30 gunshots around 10:36 p.m. that left a young man dead on a cul-de-sac in the 17400 block of 17th Avenue East—no suspects have been taken and the investigation continues.  FOX 13
  • Deputies are searching for a suspect after a deadly shooting occurred Wednesday night in Spanaway—an incident in Pierce County that is under investigation.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Labor & Industries held its Worker Memorial Day ceremony on April 24th to honor 97 workers who died from workplace accidents or illnesses, including Washington State Trooper Christopher Gadd and Metro bus driver Shawn Yim. Heidi Bryan stressed the event’s support for grieving families and Gov. Bob Ferguson offered remarks as officials vowed to improve workplace safety — a tribute that reached workers throughout the Puget Sound region.  KOMO
