Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 26th of April.
Good morning, Puyallup.
More than 30,700 people and businesses in Pierce County lost power on April 25th when Peninsula Light Company’s entire system went down.
The company reported the outage at 9:23 a.m. and is investigating the cause — restoration times were not given.
The Puyallup School District Community Resource Fair will take place on May 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mel Korum Family YMCA and will offer free services from more than two dozen school partners and community organizations—covering areas like family support, health care, and transportation. A limited number of groceries will also be available from Walker High School volunteers.
Washington's new law SB1696 signed by Gov. Bob Ferguson expanded the Covenant Homeownership Program to offer zero-interest loans to first-time homebuyers at a higher income threshold.
Critics argued that the law may drive up home prices — while supporters said it will help close the homeownership gap, following past CHP benefits which aided more than 200 families in becoming homeowners.
