CRIME NEWS

  • A gun owner in Puyallup was robbed at gunpoint last month during an attempted AR-15 sale in a grocery store parking lot—two juveniles and two young adults allegedly threatened him with a handgun, stealing both his AR-15 and a concealed firearm—and deputies later linked a getaway van to suspects with past convictions, arresting three while a fourth was caught with K9 help.  KOMO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Puyallup School District received the Department of Defense Above and Beyond Award for supporting staff in the National Guard and Reserve. HR Director Tina Limmer and HR Analyst Krista McBride accepted the award after teacher and Staff Sergeant Crystal Lothrop nominated the district, with only five employers statewide honored from over 140 nominations — a recognition of its ongoing commitment to military support.  Puyallup School District
  • Rogers High School’s ACE Academy was honored at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Signing Day at Lowe’s in Puyallup, where six graduating seniors signed letters of intent to start careers in the skilled trades and special guests like Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold appeared. The academy, one of only eight nationally recognized and nominated by SkillsUSA Washington, earned the honor for preparing students for careers in construction, manufacturing, and other high-demand fields + the event showcased their strong future in the trades.  Puyallup School District
