ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A rollover collision on eastbound State Route 512 at the Meridian exit in Puyallup caused significant traffic delays Thursday afternoon — no one was injured. Troopers and the Department of Transportation diverted all eastbound traffic to Meridian as crews worked to clear the scene.  KOMO
  • Police and fire personnel responded to Riverside Park Apartments on Thursday morning when a resident pulled a 2-year-old girl from a common pond — she was unresponsive and taken to a hospital — as police cars and crime scene tape blocked access.  KOMO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 12th, more than 200 5th and 6th grade students performed at Rogers High School for the Honor Concert, celebrating musicians chosen for their skill, enthusiasm, and dedication—featuring Honor Choir, Orchestra, and Band members from across the district—and highlighting strong music programs.  Puyallup School District
  • Emerald Ridge High School senior Juanita Leonard received a $5,000 Reba Gilman Scholarship from The Museum of Flight on May 8 and will study aerospace engineering at Embry-Riddle University this fall+ she has built her skills through volunteer work with The Museum of Flight and the Washington Aerospace Scholars program.  Puyallup School District

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, a court order moved four juveniles from Remann Hall to a separate section of the Pierce County jail — the change comes amid staffing shortages and maintenance issues. Review hearings are scheduled for June 16th — officials will decide when the youth can return safely.  KOMO
