GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting July 1, residents will see gas prices increase by 6 cents per gallon as a new tax takes effect, and fees for driver licenses and vehicle registrations will also rise to fund highway construction and bridge repairs; the tax is expected to generate over $3.2 billion in six years. Local governments will receive 2.5 percent of the funds (to improve local transportation projects) as part of the plan.  KOMO
