ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A semi truck crashed into the SR 410 White River Bridge Monday morning at around 9:30 a.m.—crews are assessing damage as the bridge remains closed with no estimated reopening time and drivers are urged to use alternate routes. FOX 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Franklin Pierce School District dropped sheriff’s deputy resource officers from schools due to cost issues—officials said budget limits and the requirement for two officers by the sheriff’s office forced the change—while unarmed security staff will protect high schools and additional officers will attend large events; the district will hold a town hall next week to discuss the change with parents. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello signed a directive on Monday to form a Juvenile Justice Task Force—aimed at studying needs and recommending plans to revamp the outdated Remann Hall facility. The task force will examine solutions including bond financing to build a facility that meets modern security and program requirements. KOMO
