Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 16th of September.
Good morning, Puyallup.
🌲 Environment
State fire officials say nearly 1 million acres across Washington have burned amid cooler, rain aided weather (though falling leaves and dry vegetation fuel risk).
In Pierce County, the Fire Marshal lowered burn ban restrictions to Stage 1, permitting small fires while large burns remain banned until Sept. 30.
🏥 Health
Three tufted puffins died earlier this summer at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium from a rare strain of Chlamydia abortus, and testing shows no new cases while environmental sampling in Point Defiance Park continues in September.
Officials say the zoo will reopen the puffin habitat when it is safe.
