COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Due to construction limiting space, the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County will host fee-waived cat adoption events at three local businesses this weekend. The events will occur at Rosewood Café in Tacoma on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Rock the Dock Pub and Grill in Tacoma on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.—and Old Growth Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Clinic in Puyallup on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  FOX 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On September 30, the School Capacity and Utilization Task Force met at the Karshner Museum and Center for the Arts to review enrollment, space needs, and short-term planning for local schools as directed by the School Board. The task force will meet again on October 14, October 28, November 13, and December 2 and will present a feasibility study on December 12—no decisions about school closures have been made.  Puyallup School District
  • Puyallup School District is reviewing its electronic device policy to boost student focus and protect mental health while revising Policy 3245 using insights from Ballou Junior High's 'Away For the Day' pilot. The Electronic Device Task Force will send surveys to staff, students and families — and host a virtual session in early November — to gather community input.  Puyallup School District
